School’s out for the summer!
At a loose end during the school holidays? Remember the store has a freezer full of ice-creams and lollies of all shapes, sizes and flavours. Choose your favourite to eat sitting on the store’s lovely decking or at one of the big picnic tables on the field! Come along with a friend and have a chat while the children play or maybe stroll up the hill and look down at the valley from a different angle. And if it’s not an ice-cream day, there is also a small selection of toys, puzzle books, crayons and comics to keep little people amused.
Again, thank you to everyone who responded to the recent customer survey. There were many positive comments about what we’re doing well at the store and several insightful suggestions on what we could do better. One such idea was to improve the fruit and vegetable labelling and this is being implemented now we have tracked down a range of suitable magnetic labels. Also, more local beers are now available from the Itchen Valley, Andwell and Flower Pots breweries. Other ideas that were received are still being evaluated and will be reported on soon.
As we adjust to the latest phase of post-lockdown life, we thank you for continuing to keep everyone safe by wearing your face covering in the store. At busy times we will need to restrict the number of customers inside, to four, (three in the shop and one at the post office counter) as we all have to share limited space. Please be reassured that all surfaces and handles will continue to be sanitised regularly and for now, the perspex screens will remain in place on the counters.
It’s never too early!
This month, the CVCS committee meets to review the latest applications to the store’s Community Projects Fund, set up to help local clubs and groups by investing in the things that improve our communities. If you belong to an organisation in one of the valley villages that could benefit and also meets the funding criteria, you could start thinking about making an application for consideration at the next meeting, in early 2022. Please contact Jocelyn Rogerson on 01256 389611 or visit the website: www.cvcs.org.uk for more information.
